Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

Tonight I ran my first run post half marathon, post Mexico vacation / recuperation vacation.

My left ankle is not 100% yet from the sprain that occurred 9 days prior to the race in Oklahoma City.  That is to say, I feel it a little bit when I wake up and am lying in bed.  I don't really feel anything walking or running, but I don't have all of my side to side movement back and it looks very slightly swollen at times.  I say very slightly with emphasis added.

I am looking forward racing this Saturday in the Full Moon 5k.

Tonight's times:

This was only the second time I had run since the half marathon in Oklahoma City two weeks ago and taking some time off to heal my ankle sprain.

I ran 3 miles two nights ago just see where I was at.

This race is a local favorite among 5K's.  There were thousands of people there and the race directors put on a big party in Veterans Park complete with a DJ before the race and a band after.  I think about a third of the people there pretty much just run for the unlimited free beer available after the race.

Division Place: 24/135

Sex Place:  153/967

I'm now looking forward to the Kidney Classic 5K in about 4 weeks.  My goal is to try to run a sub 20.

Today I went running for the first time in about three weeks.  I'm still trying to heal my left ankle sprain.  I hardy feel it at all running, it is only when sitting in certain positions and trying to pivot in one direction that I can still feel the injury.  I'm going to buy some kinesio tape today and begin running with the tape as support.  I just can't afford to take any more time off from running because marathon training begins in a few weeks.

I should add that when I left the house today the temperature was 75.  By the time I finished it was 80.  If not for the gentle breeze I would have melted.  I'm still not quite conditioned for this heat, I think because of having basically taken the past month off while the average temperature began warming.
