Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

I was scheduled to run 7 miles at a 9:07 pace.  I ran the treadmill because the roads are still covered with ice and snow and the hi today only made it to 25 degrees.

I averaged an 8:44 pace.  I can't wait to get back out on the trail, but I know this small break from it has probably been good for my knees and shins.

I will probably get back outside this week, and begin using the health club for my cross training on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.

Today the schedule called for 4 miles at an 8:58 pace.

I ended up running them in a 7:42 pace.  I've been having the hardest time holding back, even though I know I'm supposed to.  I read in Gordon Bloch's book, "How to Train for and Run Your Best Marathon" that you must always feel like you are holding something back during your training.  Once you have built up that solid base of training you will be able to fully unleash all your energy on race day.  I must make myself do that.

I'm going to make it my goal for the next few weeks to remember to pace my self according to my training goals.

The temperature was 39 tonight and the weather conditions were wet.  It was misting heavily and foggy.  Part of my neighborhood course is through a grassy area.   That area must have been soaked good today because several times my feet got pretty wet and soggy.  My run was at night though, so I could not really see a thing as to the ground conditions.

My schedule called for 6 miles, 1 warm up, 1 cool down, and 4 at a 7:33 pace.
