Personal:

I'm married to a very supportive, although slightly less enthusiastic runner than I.  Alisha has run a little with me and participated in several 5k's, but mostly she supports me at races.  She ran her first half in November, 2011.  We have a son who was born in 2010, the year that I ran my first marathon.  I participated in my first Triathlon in April 2011.  I think I may have been bitten by the Ironman bug.  Though an Ironman finish is a long term goal, I want to BQ first.

I find that the more I run the more I want to run.  I consider my self a running addict.  I like the motto: pain is weakness leaving your body.

This run occurred the day after my first ever 26.5 mile bike ride.  My legs felt fine.  The only thing I can detect as sore from the ride is my neck, and that is from riding in occasionally in the 'aero' position.

This run was part of Kevin's Iron Man training.  We ran 105 minutes at a target pace of 8:30 minutes per mile.  Our actual pace was 8:08.  The temperature was about 38, but with north winds up to 16 miles per hour.  Overall it was a nice morning.

Injury report:

The lower left outer side of my left leg just above my ankle felt a little tingly as it sometimes does when I got back.  I iced it 15 on and 15 off for about an hour and fifteen minutes.  The ball of my left foot feels a little agitated, but not bad.

The blizzard that passed through Oklahoma on Tuesday has really put a damper on my training.  In fact it has pretty much shut down all of Tulsa.  Most businesses, including ours have not been open for three days now.  I turned on my TV this morning to see rescuers pulling 8 people out of a half sunk Chevy Avalanche that had careened off a bridge and fallen perhaps over 50 feet into a river.  The official report was that five of the eight survived.  Let's just say that road conditions in my area have been treacherous.

After being cooped up in my house since Monday night I finally decided I had to get out and at least stretch my legs.  I ran mostly the neighborhoods, but I did get out onto 111th street.  All the roads are pretty much ice and snow covered.  I almost slipped and fell and couple of times in the neighborhood.  I finished my six miles in 55:31 and I must say it felt great.  I am looking forward to this melting off so I can not only get my life back to normal, but so I can also get my training back under way.
